Welcome to Parks Class!
We are a Year 1 and 2 class taught by Miss Batterham and are named after Rosa Parks, a historical influential figure who instigated the Montgomery bus boycott in 1956. The children chose their class name after learning about a selection of influential figures during their transition days.
Children in Parks class will be taught according to the national curriculum and will start to build a foundation of knowledge across all subjects. Children will begin to develop their independence and confidence with their learning throughout their time in Key Stage One ready for when they transition up into the next phase of their education.
Our Phonics programme ‘SoundsWrite’ continues to be taught to pupils throughout the year, building upon where they left off last year to ensure pupils become confident and keen readers.
Our PE days will be Mondays and Wednesdays, taught by either Miss Thorne or Miss Batterham. Children will need a t-shirt and shorts (either in their bag or under joggers) for days when PE is taught indoors. Please ensure all items are clearly named so that we can return any missing items of uniform back to you promptly.
